What is Endermotherapie?

Endermotherapie a French term which means to mechanical stimulation of cells comes from Endermologie taken from the French term “through the dermis” - is an advanced therapeutic procedure based on the philosophy of massage therapy.

Developed and founded by French engineer, Loius-Paul Guitay (LPG) who was involved in a car accident and sustained severe burns, skin graft, muscle damage, scar tissue, contractures and fibrosis. Part of his rehabilitation program, he received hours of massage from 5-6 therapists every day in turns as they would get tired. Massage therapists massaged, lifted, rolled and stretches his skin fascia to help regain mobility and prevent contractures.

He noticed that it was labour intensive, tiring for the therapist. Guitay decided to invent a device that was non invasive, natural, well calibrated and used different massage techniques to maximise outcome with no pain during the treatment as his treatments were extremely painful.

Guitay’s invention the Cellu M6 Endermolab Médical was used in French hospitals in the early years of 1980’s in burns unit. The treatment helped to speed up the recovery process for those suffering from severe burns, scar tissue improved, pain, inflammation and redness decreased. Skin became softer and smoother, and mobility of fasciae and connective tissue improved significantly. As the treatment numbers increased and more patients were treated at the hospital they have noticed that it helped with appearance of cellulite and helped with localised fat. So then they have decided to market it it in the beauty sector and called it Lipomassage.

Endermotherapie is used in Europe,Japan, USA and Asia by physotherapist, chiropractors, rehabilitation centres and hospitals, wellness centres and spas.

Endermotherapie employs – a safe, non-invasive and precisely calibrated and consistent massage treatment which uses continues suction, rolling and rythimicity. The treatment head has rollers and aspiration chamber to create continous suction similar to cupping technique in massage- this suction is continuous throughout the treatment to gently lift the skin and bring oxygenated blood to the skin surface while the rollers on the treatment head break down adhesions, release tension and adhesions , thereby improves mobility of the fascia, connective tissue and circulation.
